The thoracic segment of the spine is composed of 12 vertebrae in the central portion of the back. These vertebrae provide the shape and structure of the spine are separated by thin layers of cartilage that cushion them. Muscles and ligaments connect to the spinal column to aid in its motion and stability. The spine is critical not only in supporting the body, but also in serving as the path of communication between the body and brain. Messages from the brain travel down through the spine to reach the body and control its actions. The need to preserve these neural connections makes expert treatment of the spine especially important. If you are interested in

The spine physicians at New Mexico
Orthopaedics take a conservative approach to dealing with back pain
issues. Physicians here use a variety of non-invasive and minimally
invasive options before surgery is considered in most cases. The
National Committee for Quality Assurance recently recognized the spine
physicians at New Mexico Orthopaedics for providing excellent
conservative care for low back pain. This recognition reflects the
efforts of the spine center to protect patient interests and avoid
unneeded procedures. The spine team also includes two highly skilled
and experienced surgeons for cases where surgery is the best option.
